NEW IMPROVED INSPECTIONS?

On November 18th BBC Radio 4 PM show featured a piece about the new improved inspections. A BBC journalist accompanied a CQC inspector on his care home inspections.

A resident of one of these homes was asked about staff, and responded that some staff were very good and some were not. This rang alarm bells for me but not for the inspector who did not persue the issue but the resident provided more detailed information and stated that she had been pushed by a staff member. This is assault but incredibly no action was taken by the inspector other than informing the home manager that the resident had some issues in general about some staff and asked her to investigate. The home is judged good. If this is the flagship inspection that the CQC are proud to have broadcast on radio, then my inspections are needed more than ever.

There was such a public response to the programme that CQC  issued a statement pointing out this inspection lasted two days, so we only saw half their incompetance.
